If so, how would you recommend dabbing it so that it seals, but isn't too much? One more thing I wanted to ask was for the use of RTV. I also don't want to break the bolts by overtightening them. Correct me if I'm wrong, but if the valve cover for both is similar, and gasket is the same would the torque specs be as well? I would assume tighter since 2.5L is larger than 2.3L. When I bought the gasket, it said also that it was good for the 2.3 and 2.5, and today I inspected the valve cover itself, and the bolts looked in the same places. I am wondering about the valve cover torque and pattern, and have stumbled across a few diagrams from the 2.3L. No big deal, but I want to be sure I am doing it right for my car, which is a 2013 Mazda 6 GS with the 2.5L I4. Delayed shifts will cause acceleration issues. If the transmission fluid leaks, that needs to be fixed quickly. I am new to this, but it all seems pretty straightforward and have watched various Mazda tutorials on youtube, but I couldn't find one for my 2.5L engine, all of them seemed to be for Mazda's 2.3L. Hard shifts could come up and that is not good. From looking at forums and such, I think I need to replace my valve cover gasket. It's not an urgent matter, but I don't want to leave it. I have been wanting for some time now to fix accumulation of oil on my spark plugs, which I found out last week when I got my oil changed.
